US Stocks Rise as Dubai Fears Ebb

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose to its highest close in nearly
14 months Tuesday as fears over the Dubai debt crisis continued to ebb,
paving the way for a renewed push by U.S. investors into risky assets.

The Dow posted gains from the opening bell to the close, ending with
a 126.74-point gain, up 1.2%, at 10471.58, its highest finish since
Oct. 2, 2008. In two days, the blue-chip measure recouped all its
losses from Friday, when it slid 154 points, reflecting investors`
initial reaction to state-owned Dubai World`s request to postpone
payment on some $60 billion in debt.
